You should drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. Everyone must have heard this sentence. Since our bodies are made up of 60-70% water by weight, drinking water is important because our bodies cannot produce water on their own. However, with today’s fast-paced, busy lifestyles, and working so hard that we hardly get out of our chairs, we may forget to pay attention to these little things.

Dry Mouth: Whenever your mouth feels dry, you reach for a drink. However, sugary drinks can only provide a temporary solution. Drinking water helps to moisturize the lining of your mouth and throat, keeping your lips moist and preventing dryness

Dry skin can be cause by weather, skin care, and even dehydration. Because the skin loses water, lacks moisture, causing the skin to lose elasticity, look dark, dull, or cause dry, flaky skin. And this dry skin is the cause of wrinkles.

Thirst: Thirst is more severe than a dry tongue. Alcohol dehydrates your body, while water sends a “more” signal to your brain until your fluid levels return to normal. 

    Irregular periods. Health problems that women face if they drink too little water. If you find that your period is irregular, missing, too watery, too dark, comes in the form of blood clots, or even has severe menstrual cramps, one of the causes may be drinking too little water.  

    Dysfunction of the excretory system: Drinking less water is one of the causes of constipation because there is no stimulant for bowel movement. Even if you eat a lot of fiber, if you don’t drink water, your body will not excrete. It also causes the urinary system to not function properly.

    Fatigue and lethargy: As mentioned, when the body lacks water, it will draw water from other parts of the body to compensate, such as blood. The problem that follows is the lack of oxygen to nourish the entire body. Of course, the lack of oxygen will make the body tired and drowsy.

      Weight gain: Water directly affects our body’s metabolism. When we drink less water, the kidneys have to work harder, causing the liver. Which normally burns fat, to act as a accelerator for burning fat stored in the body. This causes the liver to have to replace the kidneys, causing less fat to be burn. Resulting in more fat being store in the body. And when the body lacks water, it also causes us to feel hungry all the time and eat more than before.

      Urinating less: can mean that you are not drinking enough water. Your urine should also be light yellow or clear. If it is dark yellow, your body is dehydrat, and in the worst case scenario. You may have a urinary tract infection.
